I booked out a Marantz and suggested we get together to finalise just a few of our ideas to start recording. As a group we seem to be working really well, with plenty of ideas and inspiration between us. The plan is to represent a students life in some way, at the moment we are working on sounds representing the morning struggle of a student. We have also made a decision to just concentrate on a students life rather than a student and non student life, as we felt two minutes wouldn’t be long enough.
We met up at the Shed and produced a list of sounds to record, We were thinking along the lines of;
- A wake up alarm
- Bathroom sounds
- Preparing breakfast food
- Doors opening and closing
- And possible a phone call from a nagging mother figure, telling him to wake up from his pit!
We tried to keep it creative, like when recording the sound of spreading butter on toast, we ruffled the purple tinsel hanging on Adams Kitchen door. Overall we produced 30 recordings using a Marantz just around a student apartment. We will obviously record more sounds in different environments, but our way of thinking is to record everything and anything that inspires us on the day, as too many recordings are better than none when putting the best ones into our Sound Scape.
Overall we managed to complete our tasks/aims for that particular group meeting. We have a collection of different sounds and our ideas are constantly developing towards our final project.
